Still a'nuthin doing

No baby yet!

We had what we wanted to be our last midwife appointment today (alas, we made one for next Friday as well). They had offered to strip S.'s membranes at 40 weeks (we're just 2 days shy of 40) but we decided we'll only do that if we have to come back next week. It seemed like meddling to us, especially when she's not even overdue yet. But she has been sticking to a regime of evening primrose oil for some good prostaglandins (hopefully!). Who knows---we have people predicting we won't have the baby until the 18th on the full moon. But we don't want to wait a whole week! I know we have nothing to complain about yet. Two days left until the due date, and really, we know in our heads that first babies are anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks late. It's just in our hearts we wanted to meet him/her this weekend. But that could still happen! So we're just waiting in this yucky heat in the meantime, thinking of ways to pass the time, amuse ourselves, and stay cool. We're going to try eating some spicy Indian food tonight or tomorrow to see if we can't get this party started!

I've been checking in on you regularly, expecting to hear good news at any moment. So many people go early that I think I've forgotten that pregnancy actually is supposed to last approximately 40 weeks. I'm sure s/he will show in good time. Wishing you a smooth and easy delivery.

I too have been checking in hoping I would click to a newborn's face. Looks like we are going to get a nasty storm in W. Mass here tonight so I might hold off on getting the party started till tomorow. Can't wait to see him/her!

I hear ya, sisters! I had this crazy ginger tea today that was basically a ginger puree in iced-water. It was so crazy spicy and potent I thought for sure it would push me over the edge and into labor. Nothing going. This baby has a mind of his own and will come out when he feels like it. I wish we could get our bellies together so the two could converse invitro and set a date or something. It is very cool to see your ticker say that we only have 2 days left. I love having due date buddies. :)

I also took the epo. And ate spicy Indian food. (Apparently, eating fruit can also help, according to my acupuncturist.) We wanted our MWs to sweep my membranes on my due date, but I wasn't at all dilated so they couldn't do it. It made me feel like the baby would never come. I made an appointment for the next week. I didn't have to keep it. Six days later... labor.

I know you will both get to meet your baby soon. :-) And I hope you don't have to keep your next appointment.
