My Morphing Lovie-Love

I love my baby S. Love her, and the baby she's carrying for us. But Preggo S. is different. My old baby loved sandwiches for lunch and despised leftovers. Preggo S. is the opposite, refusing to eat bread unless it's an accompaniment to a meal, and only choosing leftovers the next day for lunch. Also, Preggo S. has trouble sleeping. I feel horrible for her. She tosses and turns, and between me, the animals, and her growing discomfort , she can't get any rest. I awoke in the very early morning hours today to find that my pillow had somehow been swept off of the bed out from under my head in what I'm sure was as fit of unrest by S. between her eight minutes of sleep.

So tonight we're switching it up. I'm up and can't seem to settle down, and she's sleeping soundly in our bed. The dog is probably still being a bed hog (or "bed dog," as we call him on these occasions), so I think I'll finish up this post and let her have a peaceful night's sleep for once as I slip into the guest room for the night.

Anyone try the Snoogle? I think we're at the point of needing one. But I haven't figured out how S. is going to now share the bed with me, the dog, the cat, and a giant, ergonomic body pillow, all in a mere double (not queen) bed.

ahhhh yes...when the bed becomes to crowded.

i loved my snoogle. it took several nights to get used to it since it is so big, but once i did, it was a life saver. A did not love it. (i am sure she will respond telling you just how she feels about snoogle!) but it really helped with my back/leg/hip pains.

A moved to the guest bed at some point in my preg. i don't remember when. but we both started sleeping better after that.

I had to laugh when I read your post! Yes, "pregnant E." was a much different person than "regular E." - actually wanting to eat food, snoring at night, etc. And as for the bloody snoogle - I don't want to be too negative, but you might as well just pack it up to the guest room! I'd say it was about 20 weeks when I made the move - I tried to tough it out with the snoogle, the cats, and E.'s constant re-positioning, but it just wasn't worth it! At least you know that you can move right back when the baby arrives! (when we got home, removing the snoogle from our bed was the FIRST thing I did!!)

I had the snoogle and LOVED the snoogle. It was the only way I could get a good night's sleep! I brought it with me when I slept in other places. It's like sharing the bed with a 12 year old but it is so worth i!!

Our bed is small, so I didn't use a Snoogle. I got a much smaller Boppy pregnancy pillow. It was useful some nights and not others, but it left room for Lo and the dachshund on our bed. It was most useful for me at the end of the pregnancy when my belly really needed support. It was cheap, too.

I also sometimes just used a regular pillow, putting one between my legs.

Good luck. Admittedly, I didn't have serious sleep issues while pregnant until the very end.

Just my two cents . .I am not pregnant, but I have a bad back and I use the Comfort U pillow and it is fabulous . . .I know they also market it for pregnant folks as well. People see the bedroom and they wonder who the third person is-as it is big, but I find I cannot sleep without it now.

I hope y'all get some good sleep soon.

Co did not share that I called her pillow "the sperm" because it was vaguely sperm-shaped. I think that is important...

We don't have that huge snoogle thing. We do have a full-body pillow. ($20) A liked it, but I think I liked it more (when A was pregnant). We keep ending up with a two-year-old in our bed, so I've been reluctant to get the big pillow out of the closet. On the other hand, if I get in the wrong position, I suddenly feel my heart beating in my fingertips and I imagine my little fetus gasping for oxygen. So I'm with her on the not sleeping so well part. Perhaps if I get the pillow down, it can also protect me from Cakie kicking me in the back all morning. I can wrap it around myself like armour.
